APARTMENT BUILDING
As part of the Magic City Master Plan project we were to design a four (4) story apartment building within the master plan. I chose a site on the intersection of two major streets and emphasized the relation of the building to its urban context by employing wide arcade on the ground floor with fully glazed storefronts and pathways for public acess to a courtyard space at the rear of the building. This particular site also offered exceptional morning sun and breeze which I took advantage of by giving each apartment a large glazed wall opening onto a shaded balcony overlooking the intersection of NW 37th Ave and NW 7th St. The interior of building is also served by a ventilated light well introducing natural light as well as natural ventilation and cooling by the stack effect to the interior hallways.
