BIO-INSPIRED COLUMNS
For this course, I was to analyse the characteristics and forms of something in nature using digital and fabricated models representing them as columns. I chose a banyan tree because of its unique and intricate structure and growth pattern. These designs focus on different aspects of the banyan, also known as strangler fig, and highlighted them through digital and physical models.
Each column was first modelled using Rhino + Grasshopper. Then the model was 3D printed on a MakerBot 3D printer
